Green Chili Shootout

To gain access to unlimited samples of chili from both professionals and amateurs, simply purchase your tasting ticket for $10 in advance. Tickets will go up to $15 at the door. Proceeds benefit Charleston Parkinson’s Support Group.

PROFESSIONAL COOKS:
Green Chili Shootout is an International Chili Society-sanctioned event with a total payout of $1,000 for first place and a spot in the ICS World Championships. Second place receives $300, and third place receives $200. The entry fee is $25. A 10x10 space and 6 foot table is provided under outdoor pavilion, as well as sample cups and spoons. Cooks must bring their own chairs and cooking supplies. Electricity can be provided if needed; you must request ahead of time. Contestants must provide two gallons of people's choice chili, in addition to the judging chili. To register in this division, visit https://www.chilicookoff.com/cookoffs/list.

TEAM CHALLENGE/AMATEUR COOKS:
The entry fee for amateur cooks is $30, and registration can be completed through this website. First place prize is $250. All contestants must prepare two gallons of people's choice chili, which can be any variety - green, red, homestyle, etc. You will need to bring your own camp stove, crock pots, extension cords, and any other heating mechanism for your chili. You’ll also need ladles for serving and chairs for your team members. A 6-ft. table, sample cups and spoons will be provided.

SCHEDULE:

• 9 a.m.: Registration and check-in
• 10 a.m.: Cook set-up and chili prep
• Noon: Green Chili Shootout opens to the public and sampling begins
• 12:30 p.m.: Judging begins
• 4 p.m.: Sampling ends and people's choice coins collected
• 4:30 p.m.: Winners announced
